The Kaohsiung Arena is a newly built 56,000 square metre state of the art sports and multi purpose stadium. The local nickname for the stadium in Chinese translates to the “Big Egg” because the shape and size resembles one. The arena is very large and can seat up to 15,000 people.
Although, originally designed to host the World Games 2009, the arena is also used for concerts, exhibitions and other sporting events. The Kaohsiung Arena is well located for transportation, shops, bars and restaurants. The Red Line on the Metro stops directly outside the arena, stop R14, aptly named the Kaohsiung Arena.

How to get there:
From the airport / Metro / Underground
- Take the Red Line going north and get off at the Kaohsiung Arena (R14)
Total metro time 20 minutes. Cost 20 NT Dollars
A taxi from the airport could take up to an hour, and will cost approx NT$300 -NT$ 600. Most drivers don’t speak English, so it is a good idea to print out the Chinese for “please take me to the Kaohsiung Arena“.
- Take Bus 3, 16, 91, 224, 301, Red 33, and Red 36, exit Kaohsiung Arena
- Take No. 17 or 217 to the Hanshin Arena Shopping Plaza on the intersection of Bo-ai 2nd Road and Sinjhuang
