About GEOS Language Academy Taiwan
GEOS Language Academy was first established in Japan in 1973. They now have 475 schools in Japan and 40 schools overseas. They first opened a school in Taiwan about ten years ago. They have branches in Kaohsiung, Taipei and Taichung.
GEOS Language Academy Lessons
GEOS offer lessons mainly for adults. They focus more on conversation which encourage fluency through conversation, activities, role plays and discussions. They do also have some children’s classes and one-to-one classes. They do not operate on a semester system so students can join the school anytime of the year. This means teachers can apply anytime of the year.
GEOS Language Academy Teaching Positions
GEOS offer three different teaching positions which range from 14 hours per week up to 28 hours per week. When applying, candidates are able to choose which one they want. See below for more information on the three positions.
1. FULL TIME:
- One Year Contract
- Hours: 12:30pm – 9:30pm, Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday. One hour lunch break every day. A maximum of 28 teaching hours per week.
- Non-teaching time at the school: GEOS expect teachers to be preparing lessons, greeting /interviewing visitors to check their levels, and attending staff meetings.
- Salary / Bonus / Holiday: This depends on teaching experience. A bonus is given upon completion of contract. 8 days of paid holiday.
2. SEMI FULL-TIME:
- One year contract.
- Hours: Monday to Saturday. A flexible 25 teaching hours per week.
- Non-teaching time at the school: GEOS expect teachers to be preparing lessons, greeting /interviewing visitors to check their levels, and attending staff meetings.
- Salary / Bonus / Holiday: Depends on experience. A bonus is given upon completion of contract. 4 days paid holidays.
3. PART-TIME:
- Hours: A Minimum of 14 hours per week.
- Travel: Some travel may be required between schools and other teaching locations.
- Salary: Paid per hour depending on experience
