This is a famous Sichuan style (Szechuan) dish. An old woman with a pockmarked face was said to have invented the dish. “Mapo Doufu” or “Mapo Tofu” is therefore translated as “Pockmarked-Face Lady’s Tofu“. It is made with a combination of tofu (beancurd), minced pork, and a chili sauce. It is a very delicious and tasty dish. You can expect to pay about between NT$100 – NT$150 for a plate depending on the type of restaurant that you go. We recommend trying Mapo Doufu at the Sweet Home Restaurant near Central Park Station.
